4. ZINC - You can apply zinc to the cold sore and take it internally in supplement form. This one-two punch has proven to be quite effective as a cold sore treatment.

5. CALCIUM - Take plenty of calcium. Calcium is the main mineral your body uses to keep your body alkaline. This is important for peak health. Most people with cold sores are in an acid state. If you get a lot of cold sores, calcium may be the one cold sore treatment that will stop them.
