Cold Sore Cure?
Some experts - such as my good friends at Mayo - claim there is no such thing as
a cold sore cure.
And, they are right!
Other respected authorities claim there are honest people curing their cold
sores every day.
And, they are right too!
How can these opposite views both be right?
Simply because they are both talking about something different.
When a Mayo doctor states that you cannot cure cold sores, he means there is no
know way to remove or kill the herpes simplex virus once it takes up residence
in your body.
The herpes virus is an expert at survival. When latent, it hides deep in the nerve cells - where it is
undetectable by your
immune system.
Scientists have recently found, when latent, it shuts down nearly 100% - leaving
no way to locate it.
But it probably doesn't matter anyway.
We would just be re-infected in a short
time.
You see, the virus is extremely contagious. Nearly every
person is infected with it (90% of the world population they say).
Now - what about the experts who claim there are cold sore cures?
What are they talking about?
They are simply referring to the medical definition of a cure. That is -
when you remove the symptoms, you are cured.
All diseases are based on the manifestation of the symptoms of that disease. No
symptom means no disease.
When a doctor claims to have
cured someone of
cancer, he means that he has been successful in removing all the symptoms of cancer. He
has not necessarily removed all the cancer cells.
So, a cold sore cure, by medical definition, is a treatment that eliminates cold
sore symptoms - not necessarily the herpes virus itself.
A true cold sore cure would be one that could remove a cold sore quickly and
prevent future outbreaks.
